Discover the vibrant world of Christl Dekimpe: artworks, furniture and culinary delights on March 16

Is it art, is it furniture, is it culinary? Visitors to Christl Dekimpe's (49) gallery on March 16 will get it all in an all-in-one package. The artist will be presenting her new line that day and will also introduce visitors to her unique artworks. The opening will feature creative snacks. "It all starts with bare feet and a large sheet of paper."

Doesn't the name Christl Dekimpe immediately ring a bell? Then you've undoubtedly already come across one of her pieces in an international magazine or other. The energetic entrepreneur, with a studio in Dadizele, has been designing furniture for trendy interiors for years. "My parents started the business, so it was practically instilled in me from a young age," laughs the dynamic artist. "But when I took over the business, I definitely embraced the vibrant, the bustling spirit. A table certainly doesn't always have to be rectangular or perfectly round. And who ever decided that all sofas have to look the same? No, furniture should be able to live, and it should be able to be lived with. That's also what I try to convey in the furniture lines I design."

My furniture lives and you can live on it too, that's the essence of it all.

Many of the things Christl designs completely disregard the classic look we might expect. “And I choose that very deliberately. Sometimes I get an inspiration, a kind of vision, and I immediately take off my shoes. I take a large sheet of paper, lay it on the floor, and stand on it with bare feet. It's at that moment that I feel the idea come to life, and I scribble everything down on that large sheet. Sometimes it can happen quickly, sometimes it takes a long time, but once the result is satisfactory, it's off to the computer to be converted into a technical model. A lot of people are shocked when they see one of my tables. They immediately think it absolutely can't be sturdy, while it's quite the opposite. That takes a lot of thought.”

An all-in-one concept

Christl's new furniture line will be unveiled on March 16th, and visitors will immediately be immersed in a world brimming with creativity. "There are things I want to do and make, but they're impossible to produce as furniture. So I incorporate them into works of art. But even there, the natural touch is never far away, and I dare to explore the abstract path."

Anyone attending the vernissage on March 16th can also count on a third creative element. "My son has created recipes especially for the occasion. He's a chef and a creative master in the kitchen. For each work, people will be able to sample something reminiscent of that work."

Anyone wishing to attend the vernissage can register on Christl Dekimpe's website .
