Artist and designer Christl Dekimpe is launching her new art and design line on Sunday. The many natural elements it incorporates are striking. "It evokes a warm feeling and exudes a familiar atmosphere," says the Dadizele native, who is involving her two sons in the opening.
Christl Dekimpe is counting down to Sunday. Then she can show the public what she's been working on these past few months. "For the second time, I'm organizing a vernissage at my own place on Industrielaan. When it's in your own 'home,' it's always extra special."
At the front of the company, in her showroom, built in 2013, Christl presents her latest art line. Brand new are the remarkable lamps she named Bolli. "They're made of epoxy. The lamps are always different. Making them takes a lot of time, but I always have a lot of fun. I want to make them my trademark."
The Dadizele native profiles herself as both an artist and a designer. "In the large showroom, where my designs are on display, I've now hung art for the first time. The goal is for my art and design to merge even more in the future."
Christl designs sofas and chairs, among other things, but her newly designed tables are also immediately eye-catching. "My new design line is made entirely of wood. I choose natural materials and draw more inspiration from nature. That evokes a warm feeling and exudes a familiar atmosphere."
This coming Sunday, Christl, who took over her parents' former furniture company and has since added her own touch, will involve a new generation in her art and design. During the vernissage, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., her sons Danthé and Odré will be catering. "My sons are very important to me. I'm very happy that they're involved in what I do."
Meanwhile, Christl is already busy thinking about what her next collection will look like. "I also have events planned for the coming months where I'll showcase my art and design to the public."
